Student Event Guide

Event Overview

The Microsoft Office Specialist Canadian Championship will take place virtually on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Participants will compete in either the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint competition and attend the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

All participants should join the Microsoft Teams event at least 15 minutes before their scheduled check-in time and ensure they have reviewed all technical requirements prior to event day.

Before Competition Day, all competitors must:

  • Review the EFH Candidate Guide
  • Verify their computer meets the technical requirements
  • Prepare a valid government-issued photo ID
  • Test their cell phone, cell camera, microphone, and internet connection

Before Competition Day

1. Review the EFH Candidate Guide

All competitors must review the Exams from Home (EFH) Candidate Guide before the competition.

The guide contains:

        • System requirements
        • Exam day procedures
        • Identification requirements
        • Testing environment rules
        • Troubleshooting information

2. Verify Technical Requirements

Your computer must meet the minimum requirements for Exams-from-Home (EFH) testing.

Computer Requirements

✅ Windows 10 or Windows 11

✅ Administrator access to install software (if this is a school computer, make sure you can download and install a secure browser)

✅ Reliable high-speed internet connection. (Check here for internet speed – must be a download speed of at least 10 Mbps*

Equipment Requirements

✅ Smart Cell Phone with Microsoft Teams installed. (see this video for iPhone installations, and this link for Android installations)

✅ Webcam

✅ Microphone

✅ Speakers or headphones

Browser Requirements

✅ Latest version of Google Chrome

Testing Environment Requirements

✅ Quiet room

✅ Well-lit workspace

✅ Clear desk area

✅ No other people in the room

3. Prepare Your Photo ID

All competitors must present a valid, government-issued photo ID during check-in.

Acceptable IDs include:

        • Driver’s Licence
        • Provincial Identification Card
        • Passport
        • Permanent Resident Card
        • Other government-issued photo identification

Your name on your ID must match your Certiport account information.

Competition Day Checklist

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Charged laptop or computer
  • A smartphone with Microsoft Teams installed (your phone will be used as your webcam during the competition).
  • Webcam and microphone working
  • Stable internet connection
  • Quiet testing environment
  • Reviewed the EFH Candidate Guide
