LAYC Career Academy Student Gets Dream Job Through Microsoft Certification

Miguel Angel Espinosa Joa, former student and current employee at the Latin American Youth Center Career Academy.

Miguel Angel Espinosa Joa is a shining young star at the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) Career Academy. Within 15 months, Miguel completed 25 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications and also CompTIA A+ Technician and Network+ certifications. He will soon complete his Security+ certification. He committed to his goals and met them through his education, then transitioned from student to LAYC employee faster than anybody in the organization.

After achieving his Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and CompTIA certifications, and graduating from LAYC Career Academy, Miguel was quickly hired as a Computer Support Specialist at Next Step Charter School Public Charter School. Miguel knows that his IT certifications played an important role in his success. “My certifications improve my resume, and make me a better qualified candidate for any job or position I apply for.” He has already received an internship at LAYC and a promising new career in IT.

Miguel is grateful for his success. Each morning on his way to work, he stops to visit his friends, congratulate students achieving their goals, help others with his experience, and encourage them to take advantage of the opportunities set up by OSSE and CCI Learning.

As he mentions below, Miguel’s former Computer Technology Instructor, Abner Soto-Henry has seen first-hand the difference that certifications can make.

I would definitely recommend MOS certification to anyone looking to further their knowledge in Microsoft products. I believe that MOS certifications are a great way to support and improve your list of qualifications, enhance your resume, and ultimately get the job you want. – Abner Soto-Henry
