We all need to be digitally literate

Being in the EdTech industry for over 20 years, there is one thing I know for sure…now, more than ever, the value of digital literacy is paramount to how we live, learn, work and play. Whether you are in Elementary School, High School or looking for a new career; whether you are 8 or 80 years old, we are all navigating this new normal to the best of our ability, and being able to effectively navigate the internet; connect and communicate with our loved ones; upload files for homeschooling; tackle online banking or research and study from home, being digitally literate is an essential skill for us all.

Digital Literacy is the ability to learn, understand, apply and formulate ideas using information and communication technology safely and successfully.

Fear and anxiety about technology is very real. While digitally literate people can quickly pivot, the key is to bring everyone to a common level, and that no one is left behind.

When you are learning something new, regardless of what it is, it has to be engaging, and have meaning and relevance to you. If it doesn’t, you lose interest, disengage and the learning stops. It is also as important to couple knowledge with understanding. You may know “how to” but you also need to know “why and when to” apply your skills.

At CCI Learning, we have been working on this, and in June 2020, we will launch Jasperactive Digital Literacy. Contact CCI Learning to get added to the Free Trial and stay tuned for more information.
